Dr. Theresa Jordaan, MBChB (UOVS)
Medical Practitioner, MP 0365718
A compassionate GP with over 30 years of experience, known for transforming healthcare and leading child safeguarding efforts.
My Story
Dr. Theresa Jordaan is a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner with over three decades of experience in both South Africa and the United Kingdom. Her journey began in 1991, serving rural communities in the Free State and Eastern Cape, where she played a pivotal role in transforming healthcare delivery during South Africa’s transition to democracy. As chairperson of GPs advocating for primary healthcare, she contributed to the drafting of the Health Bill, which became part of the 1996 Constitution.

Dr. Jordaan’s early work included groundbreaking initiatives such as integrating racially segregated healthcare services, founding a hospice in Wepener to provide palliative care in villages, and establishing a Safe House for vulnerable women and children in the Eastern Cape.

In 2003, she joined the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), completing postgraduate training in General Practice at the University of Oxford. As a GP principal in Berkshire, she led child safeguarding efforts, providing mandatory training to postgraduate healthcare professionals and preparing critical reports for Serious Case Reviews involving abused or deceased children. This experience gave her deep insight into the workings of national healthcare systems and their role in community health.

Returning to South Africa in 2012, Dr. Jordaan now runs a thriving practice in Somerset West at the Helderberg Shopping Centre. Her practice, which includes three GPs, a practice nurse, and three administrative staff, operates as a dynamic team committed to providing comprehensive, high-quality care.
A Vision for the Future
Dr. Jordaan remains deeply committed to the ongoing transformation of South Africa’s healthcare system. She believes in leveraging technology and reliable information systems to deliver consistent, high-quality services and ensure universal access to care. Her practice partners with medical aids and insurance, hospitals, specialist doctors, pharmacies, and other healthcare providers in a multidisciplinary environment, enabling patients to access Preferred Provider Health Care with ease. As private providers, we are always keen to work with our government health services and, in the future, we aim to contribute to the transformation process involving the NHI.

With her wealth of experience, Dr. Jordaan continues to be a passionate advocate for equitable healthcare and a trusted gatekeeper to secondary and tertiary medical services. Her commitment to caring for others is the foundation of her practice and her mission.

Dr. Adri Prinsloo, MBChB, M Fam Med (UOVS)
Medical Practitioner, MP 0235296
Experienced family physician focused on patient-centred care, managing chronic diseases, and sports injuries.
My Story
Dr. Adri Prinsloo is a seasoned family physician with a passion for patient-centred care and a wealth of clinical expertise. She completed both her medical degree and postgraduate studies at the University of the Free State, where she later served as an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Family Medicine from 2003 to 2008. Additionally, she was a member of the executive committee for the South African Sports Medicine Association. Driven by curiosity and dedication to her field, Dr. Prinsloo has practised globally, including positions as a family physician in New Zealand and as the Chair of Family Medicine in the United Arab Emirates, before returning to South Africa to serve the Somerset West community in private practice.
Empathy, empowerment, and a deep commitment to her patients form the foundation of Dr. Prinsloo's approach to healthcare. Her current focus is on managing chronic diseases, working alongside her patients as both a confidant and a guide to help them take control of their own health journeys. She believes in living each day fully, grounded by the motto: "Yesterday belongs to the past, tomorrow is never promised, and today is a gift—to live and let live."

Her personal life also reflects her devotion to family and community. Married to her childhood friend, De Wet Ras, they share a mutual passion for sports, which has spurred her interest in sports injuries. They are blessed with four children and three grandchildren, and her consulting room features a heartwarming collage symbolising her commitment to family, love, and support.
